Susan Melanie Knight, President

With over two decades of experience in operations, forecasting, and strategic leadership, I currently serve as President of Knight General Contractors LLC, a General Contracting firm specializing in small to mid-sized commercial projects. I oversee project sourcing, bidding, subcontractor compliance, scheduling, and full financial oversight to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with a focus on client satisfaction.

Prior to launching our construction business, I held senior leadership roles at Campbell’s Soup and Snyder’s-Lance, managing multimillion-dollar portfolios, driving category growth strategies, optimizing sales forecasting, and leading cross-functional teams in sales strategy, category, and supply chain.  I have both a bachelor of science and MBA from the University of South Carolina and am certified in CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management). I have also been a South Carolina General Contractor since 2019 and kept the books for Tommie C. Knight III Construction LLC for 20 years.

Tommie Knight, Chief Operating Officer

Tommie C. Knight III serves as Chief Operating Officer of Knight General Contractors LLC, bringing over two decades of hands-on residential and commercial construction experience. A Lancaster native and third-generation builder, Tommie earned his bachelor of science degree from the University of South Carolina and has been deeply rooted in the local construction industry throughout his career.

As the former owner of Tommie C. Knight III Construction LLC, he operated as a licensed Residential Contractor for over 15 years before expanding into General Contracting in 2019. His firm has successfully completed numerous public and private sector projects for Lancaster County and the City of Lancaster.  Some examples are the Kershaw County Library roof replacement, VA building roof replacement, decking and stair restoration at the historic Springs House, emergency structural floor work for HOPE/EMS, and multiple remodels for the Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center.

Tommie oversees field operations, subcontractor management, and quality control. He maintains strong working relationships with Lancaster County’s preferred vendors and leads a trusted network of licensed and insured subcontractors across all major trades.
